Overall a very solid upgrade for Control4. The new app with the new operating system is a must-have. Cant stand the new background color.
I have been a control4 customer for several years. Upgraded equipment due primarily to bad power supply. They do not appear to want to support equipment they now call legacy. They want to force you to buy new equipment and have even minor programming done by dealer. The app wont allow me to see my cameras now. I paid for a service that isnt working. Big disappointment. I would not use control4 again.
I hate it now. This is one of those cases were instead of the update making things better, they ruined a good thing. Its not as user friendly. The original version was more concise and everything on one screen. Now there are 2 to go back and forth thru. The engineer behind this DOWNGRADE is an idiot.
Seems stable. Great added features to new OS 2.8. The bad reviews are likely from people not having their dealers upgrade their main controller. Just an FYI.
Dont listen to the negative reviews! They just have bad dealers. Best home automation system on the market for the money. A+ Update keep them coming!! Awesome Update.

Every updates yields a better user experience. Keep up the great work Control4. As posted earlier, negative reviews can only mean they have bad dealers and a poorly designed system.
Major bug; now all the scenes don’t work after the update. They don’t even appear to “click”… so all use of scenes, at least for now, has died. Worked before the update; and they still work from the wall panels, but the app’s have died. Control4… I wish you did a better job of the UI…
I love my control4 system and the app is functional, but badly in need of a UI update! For some reason, the previous update finally appeared to support the improved resolution of the iPhone 6/6+, but this newest update seems to have taken that support away! Now that the iPhone 6 has been around for over a year, really unacceptable that they still havent updated the app to support it. Id really like to see the entire UI overhauled, but at a minimum, please support the improved screen resolutions! The new background color is also pretty ugly. Its really the only UI thing Ive seen changed in a while, and was not a change for the better. Functionality wise, the update is fine. I havent had any issues with scenes not working or any other previous functionality being lost.
Dont listen to the negative reviews. That is someone who is too cheap to understand automation in the first place. C4 Rocks!!!
We updated Control4 to ver. 2.8.0 and it stopped working. We contacted their technical support and they told us they were working on the issue. It’s been more than one month since the 2.8.0 release and they haven’t released new version yet. We had to go back to ver. 2.7 to make it work again…I don’t recommend this version.
TuneIn wont play with this new version. Only lights can be controlled. :-(
Did Anyone at control4 try Actually using the product? You tap on one of the wall screens and nothing happens. Then you tap and something random happens. The app is not much better. Just shoddy.
Ever since I updated to 2.8 and have been using the latest version of the app, it seems to crash fairly regularly.
Buyer Beware - This is one of the most inconsistent and problem-plagued system I have ever owned. I have now almost spent as much on service calls as the original price for the system. The system stops working frequently for now explained reason, requiring calls to the initial installer to fix. The answers about what was wrong have varied from unspecified "updates" to various other component issues. In the almost three years I have had the system it has broken down in one way or another more than 10 times. I think this is a scam to help the installers sell an annual service program. Given the high up front cost, I expected this system to work without having to tithe away a monthly service contract. I would recommend any other system but this if you are considering installing one in your home.
Trying to use my phone to lower my stereo and the infrared flashes extremely slow if I use the SR 250 and it works just fine 2.8.0 needs a fix from IP control two IR update please.
Frequent network connection error when all network device works perfect. I am tired of rebooting the router.
I just update to this version and it breaks everything. I cant login or enter my e mail address. I have no control of my system any longer
Upgraded to 2.8.1 and now I cannot connect to my system. It just hangs. Won’t let me sign in, won’t let me update my settings. And of course the Control4 website is of no help. Apple, hurry and create a platform to take over this space. Control4 poses no barrier to entry.
