Control4 for OS 2 App Reviews

Works...but very slowly

The App works as advertised, but seems to be unable to keep connected to the system. Constantly tries to re-connect (which can take a good 30s), plus responds very sluggishly.

Every upgrade requires a delete/reinstall

This app crashes every time an update is put out - or perhaps even without them. One would think that the developers would figure it out by now?

Just avoid Control4 generally

App rarely works. Lately it tells me I need a 4sight subscription. Just another insult to the injury that is Control4.

App needs work!

App is very slow, crashes often and forgets what rooms are doing what often. Too slow/unreliable for 2016 tech.

Apple Watch App Is Slow

Apple Watch app is too slow to use. Security system, doors and locks dont show up (On Apple Watch - maybe I need to wait longer to finish loading?). Dont feel like calling / paying a dealer to diagnose. Also, add HomeKit support please!

Not optimized for iPad 2

Bulb icon gets out of aspect ratio on iPad 2 screens

Fantastic Updated Version

A greatly improved version of the Control4 MyHome app, cleaned up interface new features possible for media streaming and more. Just remember that your control4 system version needs to be 2.6 or up.

Buggy temp

Dont download, temp function does not work properly.

Bad temp control

Temperature control is bad and has lots of issues and I dont see the schedule tab in there as mentioned in the description, lights and locks control work fine though

Very Buggy

For the price of the system, the app is a weak link. It does not load properly. It is a buggy app with little or no support. It is easier to get up and change the lights manually than use the app.

My Control 4

I love my system! Best system out there! I can continue to add to my more and as I can afford it. Could you update the app so it could be full screen on my IPhone 6+? The TV remote is to small

Crashing

Was working great til latest iOS. Now crashes when opening security cameras.

Crashing

Crashes when I open security cameras worked well until then. New iOS doesnt work properly with this.

Not working with Insteon Driver

After this update 2.8 been installed Insteon lights doesnt work properly. Be aware.

Whassup with latest version?

I agree with some other recent comments about latest version - its useless. It takes at least 2-5 MINUTES - not seconds - to respond to anything - even recognizing whats active. Forget controlling anything - I cant even get rooms to know what theyre already doing for at least 2-5 minutes - this is a bore...

Need IOS9 update

This app and Control 4 are generally pretty good and have served us well for over two years. However, this app now does not work properly with the latest IOS9 update from Apple. It takes forever to connect to your system (thermostats, cameras etc), and crashes immediately when full screen camera view is selected, as others have reported. This behavior started immediately after the Apple IOS9 update. In fairness to Control4, they advised users by email not to update to Apple IOS9 until Control4 had updated this App, however that was some time ago (over a week or two) and most of us update to the latest IOS as soon as Apple releases it in order to benefit from Apples new features and security. In my opinion, App developers such as Control4 should really be working with Apple to get their products to work in advance of new IOS operating system updates and releases as most others seem to do, or at most a day or two thereafter - not weeks!! One other reminder for those using this App - you must remember to renew the annual Control4 license(s) for the underlying home system(for a fee through your local Control4 dealer) including the remote access fee, otherwise if youre traveling when the license(s) expire, this App wont work when you need it most. It would be much more useful if Control4 allowed you to make an "in-App" Control4 site license(s) renewal. They should also add a button to the App that sends an email to your dealer/installer if the underlying system stops functioning as it should.......but first, lets get the update for IOS9!! Other than the current App update and crash issue, we have been happy with the App, our system, and the Control4 dealer/installer.

Cameras crash app!

The app works for most services as the new t3 touch screens but when you view your cameras (I have ip cameras), the app crashes. Its been a few months and no resolution under 2.7.2. The idea of not upgrading to latest iOS is not realistic in 2015 and makes me question Control4 roadmap, communications, anticipation of product development and product awareness (basically the lack of management). Disgraceful! Even if you have the new t3 screens dont go to 2.7.2 if you rely on the app for your cameras... This has been an all to familiar issue with Control4 and needs addressed. Waiting for 2.8 is a bad strategy C4 hasnt learned in past!

Control 4 by itself is a joke

This app doesnt work with iOS 9. But the worst part is that the entire control 4 system is a big joke, I spent twenty thousand dollars on a "top of the line" system to find something ugly. The first thing is, that they havent updated the app in a long time. The app itself looks like some iOS 6 app rather than a modern sleek system, like their website. And the absolute worst part is how much money it costs, when I bough this system I had no idea what the home automation market was. Then I did some research and found that you can get a system that can do the same exact thing and actually let you adjust it by yourself for under $1000. Which is absolutely horrible. For example, control 4 makes you buy equipment worth thousands of dollars just to enter the ecosystem. Then you have to dish out another thousand dollars to get some more equipment, oh yeah and I have to pay some guy to do it for me since the system is extremely complicated to program for the average joe. And guess what! Now you need to buy a license just to be able to work it from their app, and you have to pay another $500 to get remote access! This is the biggest ripoff I have ever seen in my entire life, or you can get a system like sonos in which you buy speakers individually that actually work well with other smart products and let you stream your iTunes library directly without "guess what, buying another $200 hub" Or you could invest in the nest ecosystem which is 100 times better than this, or the Logitech harmony system. Which is the best smart device I have ever purchased. Now i beg you, stay away from this system at all costs and head towards sonos, Logitech harmony, and nest.

Very disappointing

Frankly, I never would have invested the many thousands of dollars in Control4 equipment had I known how poorly this company maintained its app comparability. It is well into October and still does not work with iOS 9. Cant believe I was duped into believing this was a state of the art company.

Doesnt work with iOS 9!

App has been 5 stars in the past but stopped working after I updated my iPhone to iOS 9. This is supposed to be a very high end system (at least you expect it to be since its very expensive!), but app developers cant make it compatible with a working update even a couple weeks after iOS 9 has been out.
